Flora and Fauna of Big Lake

We tend to mention the wonderful bird life on Big Lake but the eco-system contains many other interesting and beautiful flora and fauna. Winter or summer, it is easy to find striking patterns in the vegetation and the lake itself. In summer, add all the interesting insects and other small animal life. In winter, add the big mammals like deer, moose and coyotes.

Here are some montages of what you can expect. Sometimes you will hear it said that Big Lake is just another shallow prairie slough - have a look and put that characterization to rest!
